Aligning State and National Learning Standards to Daily Lesson Plans (Grades 4-8)
Every state and the District of Columbia have developed some form of learning or content standards as a guide for their instructional programs. This presentation asks participants to provide their own perspectives on their state's standards and how they are implemented in the classroom. Lesson plans are then examined as flexible instruments of instruction incorporating standards and levels of cognition. The session culminates in the creation of lessons that are linked to a continuum of cognition and aligned with their state's standards. Instruments include the use of Bloom's refining and extending exercises to pinpoint specific skills to be taught.
